Large employers in Livingston are retail sector and National Health Service. Sky has its main call centre in Livingston and is the largest private employer in West Lothian.

Livingston has shopping and leisure complex, eating destinations, wintergarden,  outdoor restaurant, several famous shopping names like Asda, Walmart Supercentre, Next, Topshop, M&S, River Island, Debenhams and more at Livingston town centre located on the southern edge of the Almond valley.  There are also other shopping centres, malls, retails shop located beside town centre.
